John Gilleece

John GilleeceDPHA Chair & Chair of Internal Audit Committee; Staffing and Training Committee. Beardmore Trust Board Member.

John joined the Housing Association in 1979 and has held the posts of Chair, Vice-chair and Secretary several times between then and today.

In 1986 he was elected Councillor for Parkhall Ward, Clydebank and was nominated as co-opted member to the Association by the District Council and served as co-opted member until he left Clydebank Council in 1996. John re-joined the Association Committee in 2001 and became Chair in 2005.

John is a tenant, but joined the Association as an owner occupier in Pattison Street to find out what was happening to his own personal flat. He found it very interesting and started to appreciate the hard work and commitment undertaken by the committee in getting the first renovations completed.

As the Association went from strength to strength he became more committed to ensuring that the area of Dalmuir would be a place where people would like to live and bring up their families. After all the years on the committee he still enjoys the challenges that lie ahead.

John said, “The Association has always been fortunate enough to attract people to the Management Committee who are committed to their community and have a great understanding of the philosophy of the housing association movement. Members understand the needs of the residents and will continue to make informed decisions on their behalf to ensure that the Association has the backing and respect of the community it serves.”
