DALMUIR OUT OF SCHOOL CARE GROUP RECENTLY TOOK A MAJOR STEP INTO THE FUTURE WITH THE HELP OF MICROTECH. THE KILMARNOCK BASED COMPANY DONATED A FULLY FUNCTIONING COMPUTER SUITE FOR THE GROUP.

The Microtech Suite, consisting of Apple Mac computers and printers as well as computer desks and chairs, will allow the children access to games, and educational software as well as internet access.

Microtech Support Ltd, established in 1986, has been providing Computer hardware and software support services to Dalmuir Park Housing Association for well over 10 years. On-going contracts with the NHS and local corporate customers have allowed Microtech to continue to expand with heavy investment in support facilities and staff. Microtech now employs over 30 members of staff including the only full time fully manned service desk facility available for businesses of all types and all sizes in the area and over 15 Field Engineers providing on site support anywhere in Scotland. Microtech are a Microsoft Gold Partner and are currently working towards iso-20k accreditation.

Dalmuir Park Out of School Care Group has been in existence for almost 20 years. It has facilities to accommodate up to 75 children and employs two coordinators and 6 staff. It is located in Dalmuir CE Centre, Duntocher Road, Dalmuir, Clydebank.

The group serves three schools; St Stephen’s Primary, Clydemuir Primary & Our Lady of Loretto Primary and in addition provides a Playscheme service for local kids during school holidays.

Chris McMail, Director of Microtech Support said:

“I am delighted that we are able to sponsor the organisation in this way. As a father of two young children I fully recognise how important it is for children of all ages to have access to computers and the web. Computers are becoming much more accessible in the classroom and provision of these facilities will allow the same children to be able to practice out with school”.

Pat Gilbride, Director of Dalmuir Park Housing Association said:

“We want to provide the highest levels of care for children attending DOSCG, and this facility does exactly that and helps to make our childcare both fun and educational through state of the art technology. The Association has long benefitted from the experience and support provided by Microtech, and we thank Chris for his generous investment in the project and the community”.

All parties gathered at the Out of School Care Group for the launch on Thursday 19th August. Present was Pat Gilbride, Director of DPHA, John Gilleece, Chairperson of DPHA, Chris McMail, Managing Director of Microtech Support Ltd and all kids and staff from the group.
